Laurence R. McCarthy

Larry, who joined as an Operating Partner in 2007, serves as Executive Chairman of NuvinkaDx and former Ampersand portfolio company Bako Diagnostics. He also served on the Boards of Nexelis, GenDx, Interpace Biosciences, and Protagene. Previously, Larry was Chairman, CEO and Chief Technology Officer of Focus Diagnostics, where he led its transformation from a small local specialty laboratory into a large national infectious disease and immunodiagnostic testing laboratory before its acquisition by Quest Diagnostics in 2006. Prior to that, Larry held senior management positions at Boehringer Mannheim Diagnostics and Becton Dickinson. He holds a Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of New Hampshire and has served on the faculties of Cornell Medical College, the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
