Thomas Schweins

Thomas joined Ampersand as an Executive Advisor in 2025, bringing over 30 years of experience in life sciences. He most recently served as Senior Vice President at QIAGEN, where he led strategic marketing, HR, and life sciences operations, in addition to overseeing the acquisition and integration of 50+ biotech companies since joining QIAGEN in 2004. Previously, he was a Principal at Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in the Health-Care and Corporate-Development Practice and a Technology Manager in Corporate Venture Capital at Hoechst/Aventis. Thomas earned an M.Sc. in Biochemistry from the University of Hanover and a Ph.D. from the Max Planck Society, where he was awarded the Otto-Hahn Medal. He also holds an M.Sc. in Chemistry and an MBA from the University of Southern California.
