These engagements are activated as needed throughout the investment lifecycle to support effective strategy execution. Support spans a flexible continuum, from targeted, light-touch advisory to deeply embedded, hands-on project execution, and tailored to the company’s needs and development stages.

Adaptas – Becoming a Leading Lab Instrument CDMO

Ampersand partnered closely with Adaptas’ founder-led management to transform the company from a niche supplier of mass spectrometry components into a globally scaled, differentiated laboratory instrumentation CDMO, positioned as the “Intel Inside®” for mass spectrometry instrumentation.

Over three years, Adaptas acquired and integrated six highly strategic add-on acquisitions that expanded proprietary technology, broadened product offerings, increased geographic reach, and deepened relevance with global OEM customers. Ampersand collaborated with Adaptas’ founders to build a foundational executive team and implement a new ERP system, enabling the Company to capitalize on consolidation in a highly fragmented market. Together, this collaborative partnership built a market-leading platform with durable OEM relationships, culminating in the sale of Adaptas to IMI.

Specac – From Spectroscopy Accessories to Global OEM Partner

Ampersand and Specac’s leadership team closely partnered, accelerating and expanding the category-leading spectroscopy accessories and sample preparation business into an enhanced capability, scaled, global OEM partner.

Following Ampersand’s March 2024 acquisition, Specac quickly executed the US- Harrick Scientific strategic M&A and most recently acquired AMAX Precision (January 2026), adding micron tolerance  engineering/production, higher-level assembly, and greater vertical integration. Leveraging Ampersand’s portfolio acceleration resources when first onboarded, Specac strengthened its leadership and operating cadence (including CEO and CFO transition and scalable business systems investments), while advancing its three continent global expansion, co-located near their OEM customer design and production sites. Ampersand also supported the required infrastructure investments, including global commercial, pricing strategies, lender/legal partners, M&A diligence and integration. These efforts have positioned the combined group (now 400+ global employees) for continued growth.

Tjoapack – Growing into a Transatlantic Pharmaceutical Packaging Platform

Ampersand and Tjoapack’s founder-led management team came together to transform the company from a European-focused contract packaging provider into a scaled global pharmaceutical packaging and supply chain partner.

Following Ampersand’s investment in 2020, Ampersand supported Tjoapack’s geographic expansion into North America through the acquisition and integration of Pharma Packaging Solutions, establishing a U.S. platform that added more than 45 active customers, expanded service capabilities, and unlocked meaningful cross-selling opportunities across the combined customer base. The firm worked with management to strengthen the C-suite and operating infrastructure to support the company’s transatlantic growth. Leveraging Ampersand’s robust operating network, Tjoapack launched key organic growth initiatives, including strategic capacity expansion at its Netherlands facility and investments in automated labeling and secondary packaging capabilities to support increasingly complex pharmaceutical products, including injectables. Alongside these initiatives, Ampersand also partnered with management on the company’s rebranding and strategic repositioning to reflect its evolution into a global pharmaceutical services provider, positioning the platform for continued international expansion and long-term growth.

Resolian – Scaling a Global Bioanalytical Services Platform

Since Ampersand’s initial investment in 2021, the firm has worked closely with management to execute a rapid platform-building strategy that included the carve-out and recapitalization of Alliance Pharma in the U.S., the acquisition of UK-based Drug Discovery Services (DDS) to expand European capabilities, and the acquisition of a China-based bioanalytical CRO to establish a presence in high-growth markets such as mRNA, oligonucleotides, and lipid-based therapeutics.

Alongside these transactions, Ampersand and its advisory network strengthened the C-suite and operating infrastructure, including enhanced CFO support around forecasting, KPI rigor, and financial integration. The firm also supported the integration of these acquired businesses and the company’s rebrand to Resolian, while advancing international expansion through the build-out of a greenfield laboratory in Australia, creating a global footprint across North America, Europe, Asia, and APAC. In parallel, Ampersand drove key infrastructure upgrades, including ERP enhancements to enable scalable operations across the combined organization. Together, these initiatives have positioned Resolian as a differentiated global bioanalytical platform supporting biopharma sponsors’ increasingly complex clinical development programs.

Gannet BioChem – Establishing a Standalone PEG Reagents CDMO Platform

Following Ampersand’s carve-out acquisition, Gannet BioChem was established as an independent CDMO specializing in high-quality polymer reagents used in biopharmaceutical development and manufacturing.

Ampersand partnered with management to stand up the business as a standalone platform, supporting the exit from TSA arrangements and implementing core systems and ERP infrastructure required to scale. Working closely with the Ampersand team, Gannet strengthened its leadership and governance through key C-suite hires, including a CEO and CFO, alongside functional leaders across HR, marketing, and business development and the addition of independent board directors. Ampersand also provided CFO-level support around financial reporting, forecasting, and KPI development to establish a disciplined operating cadence. In parallel, Ampersand partnered with management on a comprehensive rebranding and market repositioning effort, developing the Gannet BioChem name, visual identity, website, and commercial strategy to support the company’s go-to-market efforts. Ampersand also supported strategic M&A initiatives, including the acquisition of Laysan Bio, expanding capabilities, diversifying the customer base, and strengthening Gannet’s position as a leading polymer reagents CDMO partner.

Nexelis – Building a Global Bioanalysis Laboratory Platform

Following Ampersand’s initial investment in Neomed Labs, the firm and its advisory network helped create Nexelis, a global laboratory services platform supporting vaccine, bioanalytical, and immunology testing for biopharma and public health organizations worldwide.

Ampersand partnered closely with management to scale the platform through strategic M&A and capability expansion, establishing a differentiated provider supporting complex clinical development programs. Nexelis was able to execute a rapid platform-building strategy through a series of acquisitions, including Pacific Biomarkers, PAIRimmune, ImmunXperts, AIT Bioscience, and the GSK clinical testing facility in Marburg, Germany. These transactions expanded the company’s capabilities across biomarker analysis, immunogenicity testing, immuno-oncology services, and vaccine clinical trial support while significantly expanding Nexelis’ geographic footprint across North America and Europe. In addition, Ampersand partnered with management on the strategic rebranding of the platform as Nexelis and supported the integration of the acquired businesses to build a unified global organization. Strategic alliances in the UK and China further expanded Nexelis’ international reach, positioning the company as a leading laboratory services partner supporting vaccine and infectious disease clinical trials worldwide.
